ShoemakerMy name is Peter Dransfield and I work by myself making hand-crafted shoes from my workshop in Gainford, a small village in rural Teesdale, Co. Durham, England.I started hand-making shoes in 1992. Prior to then I had spent many years as a Pattern Cutter and Technical Manager with a large shoe company producing machine-made shoes for the bulk market. I have acquired a wealth of experience and technical skills, which I put
to good use when hand making shoes to individual requirements.
I am a member of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, an organisation that promotes high standards of quality and service in all aspects of commercial life. I am also a Chartered Textile Technologist and an Associate Member of the
Textile Institute. My own exacting standards of quality are maintained throughout all stages of the shoe making, and my work reflects the care and attention to detail that I give to every order. Many hours of work go into the making of a pair of hand crafted shoes but
the result is worth waiting for when you feel the comfort, see the quality
and admire the style.
